View Full Version : Bow string
I was just out shooting today and when I came inside, I saw something wrong with my string. The little cable wrapping around the main strings has begun to come loose. It seems as though it will remain safe for a while, but a few more shots might take it too far. The "looseness" ends at the metal nock. Any suggestions on what I should do? If that cable wrapping comes off my peep sight is gone. :n00b:

Have a look at this
http://www.lexicon.net/amron/stringmaking.htm
That doesn't really help me...I can't make strings.

Is it your centre serving (where you nock the arrow), or is it the serving holding the peep in? If it's the peep serving, look here:
http://applearchery.com/stringserving.htm
Half way down the page it shows you how to tie on nocks and serve in peeps. You can do it! It's not rocket science. If you don't have serving thread, floss can be used as an alternative.
Have no fear!

Thanks heaps for that link beetle, have been looking for that peep knot for ages :D It is now in my Favorites list
The "floss-like" binding runs pretty far. It starts about 3 inches down from the nock and stops when you get to the peep sight. So it's kind of both. Now if I wrraped it myself I would have the same problem I do now, it would be loose, I don't know how to "tighten" tighten it.
Sorry this is kind of hard to explain as I am new to archery.
