I coach a U14 compounder who is going. It will be in Perth and around teh middle of January. Runs for 5 days, 2 days of target, 1 of clout and 2 days of field.
I'm guessing you are in U16 boys compound, so you would have to shoot 70m, 60m, 50m and 30m in the target. Clout I think is 165m.
Perth is quite costly, many juniors from Vic won't be going, (only around 5 at our trials). Perhaps wait till the next one, especially if you are a mostly 3D shooter. (time to practise target)

I spose your are right Marcus.
Does anyone have any idea just were the 2004 jnr nats might be???
Also does anyone know whether juniors have much chance of being sponsored by bigger corporations like champion or toxonics???

Sponsorship is pretty tough.
The only thing you can do is try, by sending resume's when you get some results on the books.
I remember winning the Junior Nats way back in 1984 I think....................didn't help me get any sponsors.

Sometimes you can get freebies as a junior. But full sponsorship is rare. Only one I know of is Adam Liddy. He got his by sending his resume to Jennings and they sponsored him. Now days most require that you get sponsored by a store first.
Can't help, but buying Mastering Compound Bows by James Park is a great start.

Yeah i have asked champion and i am still waiting for a reply. What do you think would be best for sponsorship or should i compete in all as best as i can - indoor, fita, ifaa, 3daaa???
Thanx for the help

Shoot the ones you enjoy. Don't go getting all wrapped up in sponsorship stuff at 15.
As Marcus said getting Full bow sponsorships while a Junior is very rare. Try for a Store Staff position first and go from there.
But you need to get results on the board to impress the store owner.
Plus keep in mind that sponsorship has responsibilites with it..........you end up being an employee/representative of the store. So not only do you have to shoot well, but more importantly you have to be a "Good Bloke"
No point being a top shot, and have the personality of an icecube......or temper of Adam Richards..........(couldn't help myself :D )

Yeah I try to get to as many shoots as possible just the money holds me back(and the fact that the person who supplies travel for me shoots mostly 3daaa)
But anyway can anyone suggest archery stores that could consider me as a staff shooter.(Cos who would want to rely on a 15 year old) Like i am reliable just it is the fact that i am a youngster that turns people off.
Anyway i am shooting the gear i like, i absolutely love my champion, however i would like to try a hoyt cybertec :D .
Just for the hell of it would anyone consider someone like myself accomadation at there place at all. Someone who is not like a murderer would be nice. Just that if i went to a target shoot or something by myself I would have to stay in a hotel by myself and arrange all the transport and it would be to much hassle for a kid.
Anyway you guys thanx for the input.

Talk to the organiser of the shoots you intend to compete at and they can usually organise Billets.
You can try any of the stores we mention to you earlier on this forum, but at your age stick with the local ones in QLD.
Remember you have to impress the Store owner..............What about K & L Archery in Roma.....that would be a start

I was going to say stay at my joint if you are at shoots in Vic, but since you put that condition on it.....
I agree with Paul, I wouldn't stress too much about it. Try sending me your Profile so I can put it in the profiles section, best way to start getting known. Most of those sponsored are not only for their scores or results. It's about the intanagbles. What you do for your club, your profile, your history in the sport. I can tell you now, if you have been in the sport less than 5 years, forget it for now. However aim for it down the line. Say, "I'm going to do the work that is required to be the best and get sponsored by 20" and actually work for it. You may not be the best, but you may get the sponsorship.
Oh, and do what you are doing now, network. The more people you know, the better your chance of something down the line. I got mine because I've known the shop owner for 13 years and use to sell alot of bows for him as a junior. It was completely out of the blue for me.
Good luck, and hopefully I'll get to meet you at Coffs!

Yeah i was talking to Karl last night and he can take me to Coffs, he said he could have my arrows done in time so i can still get time to practice and sight in. So it should be great. If anyone does want to meet me the only way you will recognise me will be a kid about 15year old with a maranoa archery shirt on.
So might see ya there!!! :P
You might like to start going to junior state trials, that way you can shoot with others in the state team and then hopefully get in the Australian team. I don't know if this is still around but dosn't the local association help pay with airfairs and accomodation if your in the state team ? I agree with Marcus don't worry about the nats in january. spend the whole of next year practising for the year after
