I'm enquiring about the bow for new member in our club. He is only 16 so the poundage is Ok, but he has been told by a shop owner that his draw length is 31inches. I don't think he is that long, my bow is 28.5inches and he drew that back and didn't look like he needs any more, but.
Are the limbs ZR200 I think they only came out with them thats what the book says.
In the catalogue it states the draw length for comand cams at 22 -33 inches.
I discribed the bow to them and they like it, but they are worried about it being too short.
Thanks

31 Inches is a very long draw length Robbo. I'm not saying he isn't 31", but I would get another reasonably competent opinion before proceeding.
Also you could go here: http://www.archery-forum.com/phpbb2/viewtopic.php?t=81797&highlight=wing+span, there is an excellent thread on measruing draw length. The method described may not give you his EXACT draw length, but seems to be fairly accurate. (when I tried it, it came to about 1/4" of the draw length I was shooting.
Let us know how you go.
Cheers,
Luke. :bday:

Luke
I tried to tell his father that I didn't think that he was any more than about 28 inches, but an archery shop owner's opinion carries more weight than mine I'm afraid.
He is shooting an old bow now at about 26inches, which is a bit short for him but not 5 inches short.
He is fairly tall but when he drew my bow back his bow arm was straight and he was leaning his head back as well. My bow is about 28.5 inches.
I can't do much more than give my opinion.
I will check that site out

the limbs are the zr200 like you say
the cams come in three sizes i think the no2cam does 25-28.5 inches which is written on the bottom limb
fully wound up i get 48 pounds out of it which is more than enough for a 16 year old.

Robbo, get him to try the wingspan method in the thread I quoted in my last post. That will quickly (and quite accurately) tell you if he is in the right ball park.
The right draw length is critical.

I will try to see them today and get him to try the wingspan method.
Measure fingertip to fingertip, take 15inches off and divide by 2. I think thats right.
The bow sounds ideal to me.
My main concern is the kid is really keen and if he gets a bow that does not suit he will lose interest.
There are some that have advised a 50 -60 # bow so he will grow into it, which is way too heavy.
60# 31inches = pretty big kid!
Thanks

Steve
Your other option is to trade it in on something else. If you don't already have your new bow then try perhaps calling Bows Arrows Bits and trading it in.

Steve
I used the wingspan method on our young archer and he measures 74 inches so that makes him a 29.5 inch draw length. But he has very long fingers so you are meant to take a couple of inches off so that would make him 28.5 inches.
Sorry I thought I had a sale for you, would have made 2 people happy.
Hope you have luck selling it, it's a good buy for some one.

Steve the young bloke bought a Hoyt Magnatec with No3 CC's.
I will keep yours in mind when any body else is looking for a bow.
Luke, his draw length is about 28 1/2 to 29 inches on his new bow suits him well. A fair way off 31 inches.

Steve do you still have the MTSport for sale?
We have another junior after a bow, I will tell his father if the bow is still for sale.
He is not very big (just about to turn 13) so 50# may be a bit big but it's worth looking into.
