I've got 4 kids doing archery and they love shooting 3D.
Which club do you shoot at. Do you shoot ABA 3DAAA or FITA or IFAA

When I was a cub-archer i couldnt get enought of 3Ds ; but what kid wants to shoot a paper targets a million miles away.....3D is the only way to go :fadein:

I use to love shooting IFAA and FITA when I was a junior Inner-10. 90m at 15 was no big deal. Same as the 80yard shot in IFAA. We didn't have 3D back then, but we had a unmarked animal round where the max was 48m (most in the 20m range.) Was too easy (396 out of 400 first time out)
Guess it comes down to what you shoot most of.
Now I enjoy 3D, FITA, IFAA, ABA. So many rounds so little time
Still hate clout.

One of my kids (12 years) would shoot of the red peg (seniors) if he was allowed.
He seems to like the longer distance. He goes up to the juniors next year and he is looking forward to it.
But he loves 3D, at 2 day shoot in wagga a few weeks ago he shot 478 (max 560) which was the highest 3D score of the day including sighted seniors.

The fun of 3Ds is judging the distance, ive never gone to a marked 3D but I assume that they would not be as much fun, not to mention the competition.

We tried a semi-marked division for a shoot at my club. You could enter a division where you were given the target's rage, ie. 30-35m ad stuff like that.
The highest score came from unmarked though. We had quite a few try it because of the semi-marked. Their complaint was they couldn't see the scoring ring.

Geez I'm happy just to hit rubber, so I don't have to go looking in the grass for my arrows.
Scoring is a bonus!
....

I am 15 and i have only ever shot 3d but I can say that I find the challenge in judging distance also. This makes it fun, like a hunt only completely different  . Also estimating where the score zones are is kinda of hard but a set of sight cards comes in handy. One thing that does puzzle me though, is how a mathews can actually hit the TARGET :o :o :o . I just can't get it. Like with all their new innovations and all, the only thing worse than its looks is its accuracy   :P :P . Champion and Hoyt have the best of both worlds - looks and accuracy 8)

You've got the right attitude foxcub. Some people seem to forget why we are out on the range in the first place, it's all about fun and enjoying yourself!
Winning or getting a place is just a bonus.( I have to say that, I have problems hitting the score zone)

Rough around here. i just got back for nelsonville ohio at the ibo. buddy, it wwas tough! They really stretched our 45 max in 15-17 youth class. hills were tretchorous and mussy. equiptment integrity is a key factor at those shoots!
