Does aynone know if there's a sitee in the web I could find and print 3D target cards? I'm talking about a set of cards that have all the 3D-figures printed in them with the kill area & stuff...

Hi Spot Monkey,

You'll be able to see Pics of the 3D targets HERE (http://www.mckenziesp.com/mcktarget1.htm)

Or, for actual 3D target cards you can clip on your quiver for the McKenzie 3D targets, check out Maverick Archery (www.maverickarchery.com.au). Give Alan a call there, I know he has them in stock.

Cheers,

Luke. :bday:

Can you use the target cards around the course?

I can't speak for 3DAAA, as I'm not up to speed in that department, but it's just fine to use them in IFAA (AKA ABA) 3D...

I think the targets are diferent in 3DAAA i think they use McKenzie targets, The one's with 2 score zones.
We mainly use the oz style targets with 3 score zones, in ABA/IFAA.

We use both Aust style and Mckenzie in IFAA 3D down here...

How do you score the 3 score zone targets, when you mix mckenzie's and oz style. the same as mckenzie?

Here's an excerpt from the official IFAA 3D rules copied from http://www.archery-ifaa.com :

Targets having only 2 defined score zones shall be scored by including a third score zone which is the area between the outer defined score zone and the hairline.

Targets, such as the McKenzie targets which have 3 defined score zones, shall be scored by combining the defined bull and inner score zone to be the bull zone, and by then adding the third score zone being the area between the outer defined score zone and the hairline......................

.........................................Some manufactured targets have 3 defined score zones of representative size all within the animal torso, and will be scored as such.

...so, the McKenzie targets are scored using zone 1 & 2 (disregarding the 12 ring) plus the rest of the body for a third zone...whilst the Aust style targets use their actual three marked zones.

The problem IFAA have created here is in consideration of benchmarks, records etc...

It's easier with this system to gain a higher score on a round shot with all McKenies because all you have to do is hit the animal to score, whereas with the Aust style target you need to hit the "c" zone, and just a body hit scores nothing.

So, if a record is shot on an "all Mckenzie" course, one might wonder when shooting an all "Aust style" course whether the record would have been broken if the same scoring system was used.

I personally think they haven't done these scoring systems very well, as there are obvious inconsistencies.

I take my cards and put a x over the 10 ring IBO or 12 ASA and I use a crosshair scope. This helps alot.

Yeah, I'm looking forward to trying a crosshair in my Titan Scope. Currently using a very small dot which is good for field, but I think the crosshair could be a touch better for 3D.

Thanks again for your info. The problem seems to be that there's a couple target manufacturers and all the targets look a bit different...

The boys at www.archerytalk.com told that you get all these 3D figures if you download The Archery Program or Archer's Advantage trial version. The target files come together with the software and you can easily print them out...

Good Shooting!
