Breathe in deeply through the nose, pulling the diaphragm down, then slowly empty all your lungs through your mouth. Do this a few times before each end. Breathe from the stomach, not the chest

try anything to keep your mind busy... chew gum... listen to music... think good thoughts also.... ( my friend who knows nothing about archery just told me to say... eat ice)<<<but i don't know if that will help lol.. well i hope that you have a great, and calm day ... bye

A good scotch will soon fix it... 8)
seriously though, a few godd deep breaths while thinking about something else willl at least help to calm you down. I try to just block out everything and pretend it is just a normal day/practice situation. That way outside inflluences should have a minimal effect on you.
If it is just you getting unciontrollably nervous....??? no idea on that one

Fact is, that to perform at your best you need to be a bit nervous. This has been amply proven from psychological testing over decades covering many types of acticity. The real trick is to be just the right amount of nervous and to be able to monitor that level and to control it.

If you feel you are overly nervous, a fake yawn will actually lower your state of nervousness. Try a few fake yawns before you shoot.

when ever i get nervous i just take a few deep breaths. When i stand up on the line i look straight at the target close my eyes and visualize the shot.

Go to the Nationals, you know you wont win that so you wont get nervous, then shoot big tournaments. As your scores begin to climb you up the leader board your body becomes acustomed to the tension of tournament shooting. Also shoot the smallest obscure ones so you win easilly and get used to being in front. It's all about confidence and familiarity

Don't look at the leader board and just concerntrate on one thing at a time and relax your hands.
