Sherbrooke is holding the club championships on Dec 1 with a complementary BBQ for members and family after the event.
All members are welcome and invitations are in the mail tomorrow.
AGM will be held prior to the commencement of the competition
:D :D
...and the predictions for the Club Champs have started
Michael has proclaimed with great certainty that he will shoot an 883 Canberra (on the dot) on Sunday.
Let's see how he fares.
I like to think of it as a good starting point for a score!! :P But certainly not a definite score :P :P Could go down from there, or up...
Any way, you started it Zoe by proclaiming to me that you were going to shoot 850!
So there!!!
:P :P  8) :D

Yep, I can just see Mike getting to 883 with one arrow to go, and throwing it just to make his prediction hold true
Hey mike???
Yep Luke, to borrow the Nike slogan and butcher it a little:
"I wanna be like Dave!"
Seriously though, my pb for a Canberra round is only 873, and for the 60, 50, 40 part of a Sydney round it is only 878, so 883 is stretching it just a little, but it would be nice.
I think Tori will be shooting and he has shot 883 for the "Canberra part" of the Sydney round, so I'll be keeping an eye on him...
Incidentally, the State (and National) Record is 889, so anything in the 80s is big. I think our American friends have cleaned it :o
All of this of course depends on the conditions. They have to be damn good to score that well...

I'll be there!!! 0X

Leigh you say you will be there, but what do you claim you will shoot?
Will it be in the 80's or 90's????

That's easy 1 point more than anyone else. Mike & Tori have no hope.

I will be there (need some light relief after the hurricane in Sydney last Sunday).
Good gentlemen and ladies of Sherbrooke,
How will you react to the quite obvious insinuation that Jim will derive comedic value from your shooting abilities?
Surely this rates as a cyberspace-glove-in-the-face to us all (BOO...HISS)
(either that or he was just referring to the weather, but that wouldn't have been any fun  )
Well, to quote the Lurker, "high sounding words" Jim, we will see on Sunday.....
I was shooting with Tori today and can report that he has officially "dodged" this one, claiming that he is only and associate member and would feel uncomfortable about winning it.
Actually, its because I am shooting and he doesn't want to lose again like he did last time he shot against me at Sherbrooke!
No, Really, its because he is very busy with his work (game boards are a hot item in the lead up to christmas) at the moment and so can't afford the time..
Still, I count it as a dodge. :D
We are all going to look REALLY SILLY when "the Dark Horse" (in the context of this forum) waltzes in for an easy victory...
I refer to Bryce of course....
Then again, Wayne could be really dangerous. A 60 is all you need for a good start to a Canberra round.
And, not being timed  we had all better watch out for Steve!!

Yes Mike I could shoot a 60 but the next arrow is usually a 1 which then puts me back where I belong.
To give you all something to aim for - the AA Tournament Record for a FITA 900 or Canberra (can be claimed shooting either) seems to be "only" 884 for Men's Compound, set in 1999. Women's Compound is now 879 shot just a few months ago......so why stop at 883 Mike? :-?
Just checked, yes, you're right, it is 884. Thats one of those records that you immediately discount, because I know that Wally Tumiati and Bill Williams have both shot 886 against eachother to draw for a countback and I think Wally may have shot an 889 in a tournament a few years ago.
As for the ladies record, it still listed as 856, was it Madeline Ferris who shot the 879 earlier this year? That was indoors though wasn't it? Still, I can't believe that its only 856, thats not a remarkably high score.
Any way, this club champs is exactly that -- a club champs, not a "tournament" and so records could not be recognised, I would'nt have thought (not that I plan on breaking any...)
Mike
Yeah, the 879 was Madeleine. The 856 was in 1992 - was that the Inner 10 era for compound FITA rounds?

We did not score as well as we would have liked. Good conditions, however.
Jim 870 (281, 293, 296)
Bryce 869 (285, 290, 294)
Leigh 856 (281, 284, 291)
Zoe 849 (277, 280, 292)
Cannot remember the rest, but I am sure that Robert will post them.
Zoe had 292 at 40M including a 60 with 5 X's.
Bryce and Wayne also had 60 with 5 X's.
Bryce and I had a good battle.
end of 60M: Bryce ahead by 4
end of 50M: Bryce ahead by 1
after 1 end at 40M: Jim ahead by 1 (59 vs 57 )
after 2 ends at 40M: Bryce ahead by 1 (58 vs 60 )
after 3 ends at 40M: Bryce ahead by 1 (60 vs 60 )
after 4 ends at 40M: all square, but Bryce would win on a count-back (Bryce had three 8's vs Jim with just one) (60 vs 59 )
after 5 ends at 40M: Jim ahead by 1 (59 vs 58 )
Other scores:
Wayne Cherry: 843 ?from memory (...oh yeah 'rusty gunn' you can get away with a very 'dodgy' 60 with 5x's now - it's on the forum, and more importantly, on camera! :D :D :D ).
Trudi Scott shot extremely well, can't recall but know it was in the mid 600's at least (Trudi shoots barebow recurve and gives a lot of compounders a run for their money)...
Highlight score of the day: DEAN ANDERSON - 834. Dean shoots U16 compound, his form is extremely good and it's great to see him get the scores he deserves. According to the AV website his score is easily a new minor state record (previous, Daniel Clarke [also from Sherbrooke] with 814).
GO DEANO!!!

Well yes I amazed even myself. 296 @ 40M. 59, 60, 59, 59, 60 and a 59 to finish off. I have not shot more that 20 arrows since the World Masters and I think my shoulder will tell me that tomorrow. A great end to the year good shooting by all. And yes Zoe you gave me a run for my money and won a well deserved round.

Must admit it was a great day at the Sherbrooke Club Championships.
Full results will be on the Sherbrooke Website tonight and included in the club newsletter due out next week.
Standing room only for the AGM with around 35 competing and staying around for BBQ. A great day and some real rivelry in the competition stakes.
Wayne's score was 843 and Trudy Scott shot a credible 635 barebow.Steve McKrell in the Vets shot a 845.

Oops my mistake  I can't add up 1 X 60 and 4 X 59 = 294
Nope, wrong, back to school, 1x60 +4x59 very definitely = 296....

If you read my previous post I was right. I had said 6 ends and not 5 as it should be. :-? Maybe back to school for someone.
