It is all calculated in Accurate Sights, and you can print out a table of settings for different distances and angle. For IFAA you can carry such a printed table, whereas for FITA filed you cannot.
My simple rule is:
10 degree slope: ignore it
20 degree slope: allow 5%
30 degree slope: allow 10%
40 degree slope: allow 20%
so long as the distance is about 30M or greater.
For the shorter distances, the sight turnover gets in the way of the above simple rules, and you need to be be a bit more exact.
thanks Jim, forgive the possible stupidity.. but;
I read your PDF and also another online doco.. am I right in saying that shooting downhill you reduce you effective shooting distance and the opposite for uphill - but it's no the smae for both up and downhill is it..?
What do people consider to be one of the hadest most challenging rounds in the target world.. I woudl have thought the FITA or double FITA maybe. From reading this it seems that the Field is quite difficult.. maybe it;s just very sudden death in the way it's scored.

Ian,
For both up hill and down hill you need to raise your sight (set it to a shorter distance). The allowance is greater for down hill.
Having shot some very challenging field courses in Europe, I have found that the most difficult shots are those that are very steeply up hill (say 30 degrees up hill). Aside from the challenge of knowing what distance to set your sight, they can be very demanding physically, especially as you get a little tired (or a lot tired, on some of the courses I have shot).
Aside from that, 90M target can be extremely demanding if it is windy, but the nature of the challenge is different.
