Question. How many of you need to reajust your sights when you switch from field points to broadheads? I have some friends who swear that that have to make no adjustments (and I question their honor to myself). This has never been the case for me. Not only do I need to adjust for elavation, but windage as well. In the area where I hunt we are not allowed to use collapsible-expanding broadheads so I have never tried them. I also find that after spinning my arrows to verify broadhead allignment, I still have to patten each individual arrow. I number them and then shoot them at different ranges. Number one might shoot low right and number two might be high left. Then I put them into my quiver from best to worst. Do target shooters do this as well?

I believe every one should have to adjust a sight when using broad heads and it would depend on what fletching you are using to how much that adjustment may be. at twenty yards you may nt notice a great difference but it is there and will increase as you go back.

If your bow is tuned perfectly, repositioning sights shouldnt be an issue.

Kevin I do not think anyone ever gets a "perfectly" tuned bow although we all strive for it. Even if you could, by placing wings on the front of the arrow we have introduced a whole new dynamic to arrow flight. With the oscillation of the arrow upon first release, these wings alter the flight path.

From what I have heard from several sources, if the bow is well tuned, the pins should not have to be moved much, if at all.

Check out www.edersbow.com, forum members there are very helpful, and should be able to provide specific help for your situation/setup.

And why should that stop you from using them??

Matt yes the stiffness does change a bit because the arrow is a bit longer.
Diemarco thanks for the info, I will look into it.
Kevin......Don't want no hassel from The Man.....

Depending on what broadhead you are using there has to be a difference.
eg. 1. Is it the same mass wieght as your feild point
2. Is a three blade or a two blade
3. Is it vented
The fletching or vains you are using will also determain if you have the same impact point if you are not using enough length to spin the broadhead it will plain(if it is a two blade) different weights will change tthe spin of your arrow as will the extra length as I said earlier the only one you will find close will be the 20yd/m and even then the left and right is usually out. It is always best to test your sight settings and adjust before you go on a trip. If the spin of your arrow is close to the limit with a field point yopu are ging to have a problem with a heavier broadhead.
