Harry bloody potter :-?

nah Harry's ok crusader :D
thought about buying it today, well picked it up but put it back again.... hardcovers ****e me when reading in bed, one of those things, so i'll wait for the soft cover..... why can't they have both available at the same time :-?
They bring out the hardcovers first so people have to fork out heaps to be able to read it. Then they bring out the soft cover when people realise they are too heavy to hold up. Thus, they sell 2 books instead of 1.

Have never actually been very excited about Harry Potter books or movies. The books are a very second rate attempt after reading stuff by Weiss and Hickman and David Eddings I am afraid. Good for kids but I can't see the attraction for myself. The mass media did a great job in building these things into something better than they actuall are just like the first 2 of the New Star Wars movies. (the 3rd roxed my sox)

I'll give you Weis and Hickman, but Eddings? His stuff's okay, but it gets pretty repetitive after a while - I read most of it when I was younger, but I've read a lot better since - such as Harry Potter :-)

Patrick Robertson writes some cool books. All about terorists stealing submarines and blowing up americans. :D
I finished it this afternoon, it wasn't bad. :)

I have a statement to make:
SNAPE KILLS DUMBLEDORE IN BOOK SIX.
If that statement affects you in any way, you deserve to die - society will thank me.
I only did that last post because VOLDEMORT KILLED MY FATHER.

Snape kills Dumbledore? Is that before or after Voldemort says "Harry, I am your father?" and chops his hand off with his lightsaber... erm... I mean wand.
I have also noticed that the kids have turned into horny little buggers - I hope we don't have too many eight-year-olds reading this book, they might get ideas!

I know that. It's just that they've all been pretty chaste so far - that and the fact that I can imagine a lot of 8-year-olds wondering what Harry's getting up to now :-D

Okay, so i deserve to die, i can't believe JK killed off Dumbledore, yeah, its set up the story line for the next book, but i just think it was silly.
And how throughout the whole book, she kept making Dumbledore's actions and everything seem out of sorts with the previous books, he went far too loopy too quickly and kept having me thinking that he was under a spell or something.
It was well written literature, but a dud story.

I can't decide if I should start reading the books. The movies so far have been pretty good if you have not been tainted by The-book-is-so-much-better syndrome.

True, but Michael Gambon is still alive, so Dumbledore could have too. Admittedly it's a bit reminiscent of James Bond, but hey ;-)

Actually Tim, only the first 4 were, The Order of the Phoenix and The Half Blood Prince are catalogued in public libraries as teenage (13+) items as their content is considered too mature for younger readers.
But yes, perhaps we should grow up.

I gave up reading Harry Potter after 2 1/2 books. I'd have thought there would have been 9 3/4 books in the series. :-? It'd have been an easy way to finish up mid-scene with a potential to re-start the series when JK Rowling was bored or running out of money (yeah right)!! :D

I have no interest whatsoever in the Harry Potter thing, though the movies are watchable.
In Sydney last Saturday they organised a HP steam train from Sydney Central to Moss Vale. All passengers in dress and the books to be given out at the appropriate time.
The Southern rail line passes by our club, and it was fabulous to see the great vintage 3801 loco travelling at speed towing the vintage carriages. :)
The image was a little spoilt by the two deisel locos unobtrusively hidden in the middle of the train however. :(

 That's almost an oxymoron.
Goods books extend beyond age boundaries. For example Cat in the Hat and Yertle the Turtle. 8)
