I received a notification of a private message today. Imagine my surprise when there was no message in my mailbox.

Whoever sent the PM please reply to me at (email address removed) as it would appear the PM system is unreliable.

When it arrived in your inbox, the system sent you a notification but the sender deleted it before you read it

That has been confirmed as the case. It was the only way I could think of to alert someone I had not received a message.
