An idea in the UK that seems to be spreading over to this side of the world is to enter the phone number in your mobile of someone you'd like to be contacted if you need help, under the name "ICE" for In Case of Emergency.
Apparently the idea was launched in the UK last May and really was useful during the recent bombings in London. As many people have mobiles paramedics or other helpers were able to use the injured person's mobile to notify their nominated friend or relative, and also to help with identification of the person.
More than one contact number can be entered, ICE1, ICE2, ICE Mum etc
