    Best archer(s) of all time

Ok so who do people feel are the best archers of all time? Recurve, compound, men and women.

I have to say Kim Soo-Nyung for women's recurve. Not too sure about the others.

Daryl Pace was mighty good. Stunning scores with old bows and aluminium arrows. Shot higher scores in the 1970's than most archers do now.

How about Horace Ford? Consistently achieved 6 hits at 100 yards with a longbow and wooden arrows in the mid 1800's. Held the record for a York round for nearly a century. Shot both directions during the round (and hence variable wind), and with a bow that lost weight as the day heated up. Frequently had his score 50% higher than the archer who finished second in major competitions. In one York round of 144 shots he had 143 hits (and 72 of those shots were at 100 yards). Probably should be known as "Clare's hero".

My nomination for best archer is Rick McKinney.

Rick has been shooting again a little bit and posted a 1254 recently. Seems he will be competing in the next US Nationals in the Masters Division, having turned 50 just a few weeks ago.

Yep Horace Ford would be hard to beat, as would Pace.

    Greatest Longbow shooter: Horace Ford
Greatest Recurve Man: Darrel Pace, then possibly Frangelli
Greatest Compound Man: Who Else but our own?
Greatest Recurve Woman: I can never remember the names
Greatest Compound Women: In it's infancy, to hard to tell.

Having said that, I don't know very much about Darrel Pace so I can't comment. From what you've all said though, he sounds like a brilliant archer.

    Pace vs Frangilli.

    No comparison.......PACE!

Him and McKinney dominated Mens Recurve Archery for 20 years, in a non matchplay environment. So no luck involved there

The techniques that coaches teach today, were developed from the form of those two guys.

Frank Pearson is a chump, no way is he the greatest all time, Terry would be the greatest Field Archer of all time, and Vegas shooter.
Al Hendersen would be more likely than Larry Wise as a coach, however you would have to say Ki Sik Lee.

1380's-1390's doesn't cut it in the game of greatest ever, Clint shot 1380+ in the wind a week ago.

fck off Pauly Hopkins is the greatest shooter out there IMO, Teelow put the animal down and back me up here I have no doubt if he were to take up fita full time he could easily be top 5 fita material. I would love to see him shoot IFAA, he'd clean the floor with the likes of Pearson and Ragsdale.
Marcus Ragsdale is good no doubt about that but the greatest ? It's easy for these guys to say oh but I shot X amount in Y year. What do they shoot today. What it comes down to is do people really give a sh*t. Ohh Earl Hoyt shot a x in 1968. Who gives a fck honestly

Dude when you are talking greatest ever top 5 doesn't cut the mustard. Ragsdale shot a clean 1200 Vegas in 1976, and then repeated it the next year!! Most top shooters have a hard time doing that today, and he did it with a 4 wheeler. He also was the first man to shoot a 560 IFAA round, and it's only been done once since.
Hopkins is the best 3Der, but till (if) he plays a target game he can not be the greatest ever in that area. You are just speculating.
Pearson is no where near a great archer.

Marcus good on him for shooting a 1200 in 76, wasn't even born then ! Did he win Vegas this year ? or last year ? How can somebody who won an event 27 years ago be the greatest ! Without a shootoff with the likes of Hopkins, cousins, Freeman, Teelow we're all speculating ain't we ?
and yes I did say Teelow Despite what people say I think he's a gun !

Hopkins......... who the **** is he???. ....I remember reading about 3D when it started in the US Archer, that was around 1995.

    What's that like 8 years ago......best ever.....PFFFFFTTTTT!

I say that until a lot of these so called 3D Pro's bite the bullet and try to represent their Country on an International Team they are only going to be the best in their backyard.

Like being a Pro??? what does that mean? it means nothing.

I'm with 2Dogs, till you prove it on a WORLD stage you are nothing but a backyard wannabe.

yeah Katie Smith, best womens Compound indoor shooter ever, bar none!

1200 out of 1200 dude with a bow that most of these guys couldn't hit the side of a barn with.

Greatest Compounder Ever: Marcus Anear, winner of the Cher Ave Outdoor World Titles, The Cher Av 3D World Titles, The DVA Indoor World Titles (Fade Blue Protec Devision). In fact I have won more World titles than Hopkins, Cousins, Freeman and Teelow combined. (157 this year alone! And all to Hoyt)
