Ragsdale vs Hall - 1985 Horsham indoor

This video was a huge influence on my archery when I first watched it in 1988.

The Horsham Pro/Am Indoor Tournament was a huge event for Australian Archery back in '85.
If I remember about 350 archers attended. As well as Terry and Eric, Katey Smith, Becky Pearson and Don Valla also came out from the USA.
I think I still have a copy of the entire ABC telecast floating around here somewhere.

I think Eric was shooting a Hoyt Contender with fiberglass limbs.

Pete Shepley came over with Terry Ragsdale for the event. Somewhere at home is the letter inviting me to come meet them in Horsham, but being 16 at the time pretty much killed that opportunity.

Thanks for digging that up Marcus.
If you could find that craigr, youtube that mother!

Andy, Pete Shepley didn't make it over here Don Valla was sent as the PSE rep with Terry Ragsdale and Becky Pearson the staff shooters.
Although Don also shot the tournament.

    Thanks.
I never heard what happened there eventually. All I knew at the time was that there was no way I was going to make it and it was quite some months away.

This is a excellent short video thanks Marcus. These guys looked so relaxed and friendly I am super new to the sport are people usually so friendly and relaxed at events now days? From the stuff I have seen now days people seem much more focused not so friendly. Keep in mind I haven't been to nor seen a lot of events.

Well after cleaning up some stuff at my parents place I have found a recording of the full Horsham Pro-Am event as broadcast on the ABC back in 1985.
Only problem is its in Beta.
In the new year I will try and get it converted to DVD and will post it here and or Youtube.

    LEGEND!

    Hmm.
Finding a Beta recorder will be fun, but they were built well for the most part. Even if they just became very big digital clocks for most of their lives.
But that's what conversion businesses are for.
I've got a Panasonic MS4 at home which still works perfectly for SVHS and VHS conversions. I can't bring myself to throw it away as it cost me 3800 dollars 25 years ago..

Is that Tony Isles 24 seconds in shooting beside Terry in SQAS colours? He trained Clint Freeman for a while too. in the bear cap?
