    Freighting a bow

    Hi All,
I had to send a 39" Elite Victory to Melbourne from Tas and found a good freight option.
Fastway Couriers have no problem with a 1.1 metre long parcel, provide tracking numbers and are reasonably priced.
I noticed they have depots across Australia so might be a good alternative to Aust Post for long gear.

Hope I haven't broken the forum rules by mentioning this but thought it would help.

    Cheers Tim

Or find the right privately operated Australia Post Office that doesn't refuse this size package & they will reliably deliver anywhere at a reasonable price.

The post offices in my area will take bows but once you go over 1m they charge about $45 registered mail.

Try Couriers Please. Melb to Syd was from memory $38 overnight with tracking and confirmation of delivery, and they come and pick it up from you.

    My 2c.

I made a booking with Temando (a courier broker) on the 20th Dec 2016 and it was delivered on the 23rd Dec 2016 for $34.14 and they used Fastway Couriers. From Sydney NSW to Hervey Bay QLD

Although they did not update their tracking info regularly, Fastway did and I was able to track the delivery through them.

So, apparently most (budget) courier companies in Australia do not like dealing with these one-off/adhoc deliveries and prefer customers to buy a book of 10/20/100/etc deliveries and provide reasonable discounts for doing so. But this is absurd to the "one or two a year" that I would require...

Temando, Smart Send, and others are then brokers to the couriers, and in doing so, they will keep their overheads to a bare minimum, so do not expect these guys to be "looking out for you". They will book the job and then they will forget the job.

If you have any problems with the delivery, then you are in a world of hurt...

So it is a gamble, and I happened to be lucky.

Here is a link to a booking quote system with Temando, use at your own risk - https://dashboard.temando.com/booking

I also found this after my delivery, and I may not have used them when I saw this: http://www.productreview.com.au/p/temando.html

Interesting that they list some other courier brokers at the bottom of their web page.
